Life as a Jesuit Regent

My experience of Jesuit Regency began in San Antonio, Texas where I lived at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. During my time there, I worked with Catholic Charities of San Antonio's Counseling Center to provide counseling for those in need. Part of my work included helping out at Guadalupe Home which provided housing and other services for pregnant, homeless women. I also worked at some of the local parochial schools to provide counseling for students identified by the schools as needing a little extra support. After one year in San Antonio, I was assigned to teach theology at Dallas Jesuit College Preparatory. It was during my time in Dallas that I discovered and began using Moodle. With the help of my students, I also developed a series of reflections based on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius entitled Toward Greater Freedom. The Toward Greater Freedom program was initially just for the student; however, it has also been warmly received by the parents as a way of fostering a deeper relationship with Jesus. In recognition for my creativity in introducing Moodle and the Toward Greater Freedom program I was the recipient of the school's Grimshaw Family Award. In addition in April of 2007, the Catholic Foundation awarded me the Work of Heart award. After finishing, Regency I was sent to study Theology in Berkeley, California.
